Abstract

This is an approach to Middle Eastern Judaism from the history of the Jews of Kurdistan themselves that challenge some of the assumptions from which the Jewish life of the Middle East is studied. As a result of these methodological assumptions, Kurdish Jews have been made invisible by the Latin American academy dedicated to both Jewish studies and the one focused on Kurds. Making a historical journey on Jewish life in the territory of Kurdistan, the article incorporates references to the most outstanding academic works carried out around Jewish Kurds in order to show the different areas from which the Latin American academy interested, both in the studies Jews as well as Kurds, could approximate this theme.
